Series II: Heavy Duty Spider Rotor

Riverside Product recently had a customer’s 98-104 Series II rotor in our shop for service. The customer ran a massive unshredable and felt more comfortable having RPI install a new spider on the rotor. This rotor has shred 300,000 tons and is showing little wear at a point when most disc rotor designs would be well past their serviceable life.

Aside from the difference in color, it would be difficult to tell that the spider on the left is brand new and the spider on the right has 300,000 tons of wear.

Notice the excellent wear on the hammer pin holes that have been in the shredder when compared to the newly machined pinhole. These pinholes show no evidence of egging or distortion despite the tons on the rotor.

The locking area of these spider tips are exhibiting excellent wear characteristics and should continue to wear well for an additional 300,000 tons or more.
